Laurea University of Applied Sciences

Laurea University of Applied Sciences is a student-centred, international, inspiring and innovative university of applied sciences in Finland. Our mission is to educate, research, develop and innovate. In our activities we apply the action model of Learning by Developing (LbD).

We offer several bachelor’s and master’s degrees in various areas. Our Global Health and Crisis Management Master’s degree is a professional programme for health and social care professionals interested in development, leadership, and management within social, health and crisis services. The programme focuses on evidence-based global health development and crisis management (WHO 2016; WHO 2017; UN 2020). Working with transnational projects the students encounter health challenges which are tackled through theories and practices for the benefit of health care service users and health care workers (ECDC 2017; The Security strategy for society 2017; Foldspang et al. 2018, 15).

The main objective of the master’s degree in Global Health and Crisis Management programme is to provide a structured, and methodologically advanced studies, which will enable construction of future competencies for global health care. This will enhance European and global demands and visions for multi-professional and transcultural performance in health care by bringing the worlds of education, research and work closer together (Foldspang et al. 2018, 15; UN 2020).

In the Global Window website, we present our work and tackle some of the challenges and provide solutions in global health and crisis management. We warmly welcome also other partners to join!
